Sajidah’s story

My artwork, A Sky Full of Me, represents the different parts of my identity and the things that make me who I am. Each lantern symbolizes something important in my life, including my Afghan heritage, Muslim faith, family, role as the oldest daughter, and my love for soccer and art. The empty lanterns represent the parts of myself that I am still discovering as I grow. The moon and stars reflects a peice of my faith. Then there is me looking up at the lanterns, looking at how all of these different parts of my identity come together. Through this artwork, I want to show that identity is made up of many different things, and every part of that matters.
